Frequently Asked Questions

How do urgent care virtual visits work?

You’ll connect with a licensed healthcare provider through a secure phone or video appointment. Your provider will review your symptoms and health history, answer questions, and recommend treatment, testing, prescriptions, or in-person care when appropriate.

What are the limitations of urgent care telehealth?

Telehealth cannot replace every hands-on examination, test, or procedure. Some symptoms and injuries require an in-person evaluation, and medical emergencies should always be directed to 911 or the nearest emergency department.

Is it cheaper to go to urgent care or use telehealth?

Telehealth is often less expensive than an in-person urgent care visit, while also eliminating travel and waiting-room time. Your actual cost will depend on the provider, services needed, insurance coverage, and whether follow-up testing or in-person care is required.

Can a virtual urgent care provider prescribe antibiotics?

A provider may prescribe antibiotics when they are medically appropriate for a suspected bacterial infection. Antibiotics do not treat viral illnesses and are never guaranteed. Testing or an in-person examination may sometimes be necessary.
